Hero: Robert Hurst
Heroine: Moira MacAllister Hurst (and too many aliases to list)
This is the third installment in the Hurst Amulet series, and in my opinion, the best one by far. I enjoyed Robert's demonstration of intelligence. It's always nice when a hero or heroine has the upper hand and villains fall by the wayside. I preferred Robert to Moira, but only because of her decision toward the end which resulted from distrust (or a dumb attempt to hold on to her independence and self-reliance). Luckily, Robert was playing his A-game and anticipated her moves so Moira's stupidity didn't ruin anything.
Here are a few of my favorite things from A Most Dangerous Profession:
1) Buffon, Robert's valet, is a loyal, smart servant. I enjoyed the character. I would like reading more about him, but not as a hero. I appreciate him in the role of sidekick.
2) Robert always has the upper hand, but when it comes to Moira, he's willing to relinquish control.
3) Robert and Moira have an easy, comfortable rapport and sexual chemistry. Whether they're in the bedroom or just enjoying one another's company, they have a really good time together.
4) Robert didn't hesitate in his new role as a father. He accepted responsibility, respected Moira's role as mother, and let his surprise daughter set the pace in getting to know one another. There's nothing sexier than a man who excels at fatherhood.
I made a point of complaining about the Kindle formatting on the previous Hurst book. I am pleased to report this one did not have any issues. I didn't notice a single typo, either.
My only complaint about this book might be a slight spoiler, so skip over this paragraph if you haven't read it yet. The search for Ross' secret room was such a big plot point that I was disappointed when the actual discovery of the box was skipped over. I think it was a missed opportunity.
I don't like rating books by a star or number system, so here's my rating system:
Bad=Quit reading the book
Fair=It was okay; I finished it
Good=I liked it
Great=I loved it; definitely would enjoy re-reading it someday

Rating for A Most Dangerous Profession: Great
